Government institutions Main functions
Ministry of Finance
  • Formulating, planning and implementing fiscal budgetary policies to promote sustainable development
  • administering and collecting taxes
  • supervising financial institutes
Ministry of Primary Industries
  • Maximizing the contribution of the commodity sector to GDP, employment, technology development
  • increasing the efficiency, productivity and competitiveness of the commodity sector
  • providing the infrastructure and supporting primary and secondary industries
Ministry of Agriculture
  • Increasing income of farmers and fisherman
  • increasing food production for domestic consumption and for export
  • monitoring, evaluating and coordinating the implementation of projects under Agricultural Development Project.
Ministry of Land and Cooperative Development
  • Ensuring the management and development of land
  • Surveying and mapping services for optimal utilization of land and the fair distribution of national wealth
  • Promoting and facilitating exports by strengthening bilateral, multilateral and regional cooperation
  • Providing information on technologies for processing and marketing raw materials
Ministry of International Trade and Industry
  • Planning and implementing international trade and industrial policies
  • Promoting local and foreign investment and coordinating and facilitating industrial development

  • Studying and assessing the development of projects subject to the EIA
  • Evaluating project site suitability and effectiveness of pollution control systems
  • Providing environmental input to agencies at theFederal and State level t
  • Implementing enforcement on pollution sources
  • Developing national networks for water, air and noise monitoring systems
  • Reviewing the existing regulations and proposing new ones
