South Pacific Regional Environmental Programme(SPREP)
The South Pacific Regional Environmental Programme (SPREP) was established in 1982 and covers 22 Pacific Island countries and territories. SPREP's primary function is to serve as a sub-regional link to international organizations during the negotiation of international environmental commitments. SPREP is also involved in developing capacity of its member countries and territories, as indicated in its 1997-2000 Action Plan for Managing the Environment in the South Pacific Region.
