Republic of Palau: Office of Environmental Response and Coordination
The Republic of Palau established the Office for Environmental Response and Coordination (OERC) to address an increasing number of global and regional multilateral environmental agreements. Although the OERC initially oversaw MEAs dealing with atmospheric pollution issues, the office now has responsibility for biodiversity-related conventions and a number of other instruments. The OERC's principle role is to coordinate and channel information in preparation for negotiations as well as disseminate information to the respective implementing agencies of government and nongovernmental and private sector interests.
