Examples of influence of membership:

Republic of Korea: OECD Membership

The Republic of Korea became the 29th member country of the OECD in December 1996.

Korea has associated itself with the OECD Ministerial Communiqué (1996) according to which "Ministers expressed the hope that new members would move to the level of responsibility of OECD Member countries in international environmental conventions". Korea expressed a strong willingness and ability to accept all OCED instruments (Recommendations and Decisions) in the field of environment. Many of these instruments have already been implemented in Korea, but some instruments concerning chemicals and waste management will require enactment of further legislation to assure full compliance.
