V. CONSIDERATION OF MULTILATERAL TRADE AND ENVIRONMENTAL AGREEMENTS IN
DOMESTIC POLICY FORMULATION

Sri Lanka is a party to the following international environmental Conventions:
- Ramsar Convention on Wetlands, 1975;
- Basle Convention on the Transboundary Movement of Hazardous Waste, 1992;
- Biodiversity Convention, 1992);
- Vienna Convention on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer and the subsequent Montreal Protocol, 1989;
- Framework Convention on Climatic Change, 1993;
- Bonn Convention on Migratory Species, 1989;
- Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species, 1973.
On the trade side, Sri Lanka is a party to the final agreement embodying the results of the Uruguay Round of multilateral trade negotiations of WTO.
The environmental Conventions that are of significance to the tea sector, or that have a direct bearing on the sector, are the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deple the Ozone Layer, and the Framework Convention on Climatic Change.
