9. EIA Interagency Committee

The EIA Interagency Committee, which plays an overall supervisory role, is convened by CEA and meets periodically. It is chaired by the Secretary of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, and includes representatives of all PAAs and NGOs. It assists CEA and the Ministry of Environment and Forestry in overseeing the EIA process on a continuous basis.

The functions of the EIA Interagency Committee are:

  • To review the status of implementation of the EIA process;
  • To advise and guide PAAs;
  • To recommend approaches for integrating EIAs into national policy and planning frameworks.
