4. Approval policy for projects which may result in adverse environmental impacts

In relation to the above policy, low-polluting processing activities must first receive an EPL through which measures for the control of adverse impacts are introduced. Prescribed projects are required to undergo an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) prior to approval. That process enables the introduction of mitigatory measures which will counter any adverse impacts on the environment.
