7. Presentation of Langkawi award
The Langkawi Award, which was introduced in 1991, represents recognition by the Government of Malaysia of any Malaysian individual who has contributed significantly towards the betterment of the environment. Tan Sri Khir Johari, a veteran in many areas including the environment, was selected as the recipient of the 1995 Langkawi Award. His most outstanding contribution was his years of leadership in conservation work locally and internationally through the World Wide Fund for Nature Malaysia.
