K. Coordination with other forestry projects

ERP and the Social Forestry Project in Malakand Division were designed as sister projects to operate under one project director. They complement each other with several support and feedback functions. Together they have taken the lead in the introduction of the social forestry approach. The project covers the whole Malakand Circle area with the exception of Kohistan/Utror. The Social Forestry Project in Malakand Division is developing formats for planning and monitoring, extension and material supplies, and it provides training to upper-level Forestry Department personnel and social activity organizers of both projects. ERP applies the social forestry approach in villages in Chitral, Swat and Buner. ERP also assists WFP with the introduction of the social forestry approach in WFP-funded projects elsewhere in Pakistan.
