E. Village organizations and women's
organizations
One of the goals of ERP is to strengthen local institutions at the village
level through such entities as Village
Development Committees (VDCs), Management
Unit Committees and women's organizations. Only when village people in
all areas unite can they set new rules for the rights of management and
use of communal resources. The design of social control and fine-levying
systems would be the basis of the new stewardship of communal, state and
private areas. A village fund is an essential prerequisite for sustainable
village development. Revenue includes contributions from members and other
sources of common income such as tree pruning and selling fuelwood to the
local population at subsidized rates.
