D. Environmental planning in the middle city group

3. Ecological planning

In the middle region, a preliminary ecological network of cities, with Shenyang City as a core, has been established. Forest areas for water and soil conservation and economic forestry areas are distributed in the mountainous areas of east Shenyang. Shelter forests and rapid growth forests are distributed in the western region of the province. The southern region contains agriforest and green area systems along both sides of the highway. The northern region contains forestry areas for desertification control.

The green areas should be further strengthened in the middle region. First, 500-l,000 metre wide forest belts will be planted along both banks of the Hunhe river between Shenyang and Fushun. Second, shelter forests will be planted along both sides of the rail and road systems. Third, a 200-500 metre wide forest belt will be gradually planted around each city.
