[ B-1 | B-2 | B-3 ]

1. Rapid development of the national economy, and industrial structure

In 1995 the gross domestic product (GDP) of the city was Y40.7 billion and per capita GDP was Y 6,067; the total retailing of social consumer goods reached Y29.5 billion. With the development of the national economy, the industrial structure is changing and is being adjusted. The adjustment of primary, secondary and tertiary industries and their interior structures has achieved some results (figures 4a and 4b). The superiority of the leading industries has been enhanced. As new economic points, the village and township enterprises of counties, development zones, new and high-tech industries, and joint ventures are quickly developing. Tertiary industry, especially newly established industries in that sector, has undergone great development. The proportion of primary, secondary and tertiary industry changed from 11.7:65:23.3 in 1980 to 8.1:44.3:47.6 in 1995.
