- Objectives:
- To review the implementation of the Programme of Action for the Least Developed Countries for the 1990s at the national, regional and international levels; identify the constraints and impediments in the implementation of programmes; recommend measures and actions to support the efforts of these countries; and present the regional views on finance for development, social issues, external trade and infrastructure at the global

- Participating countries:
- Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, Kiribati, Lao People's Democratic Republic, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu
and Tuvalu.

Meetings and workshops
- Expert group meeting to review the implementation of the Programme of Action for the Least Developed Countries for the 1990s at the national, regional and international levels and to identify the constraints and impediments in the implementation of programmes,

- High-level seminar to recommend measures and actions to support the efforts of these countries, and to present the regional views on finance for development, social issues, external trade and infrastructure at the global review,
