On 17 and 18 September 2009 ISDR and ESCAP jointly organized a Consultation Meeting on "Coastal and Climate Hazards: Priorities for the Indian Ocean and Southeast Asia". The meeting was held at Room C (7th Floor) of the Amari Watergate Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand.

The Consultation Meeting aimed to review the regional joint priorities of the environment and disaster risk reduction communities, as well as the priorities of various bilateral and multilateral funding mechanisms that are available to support this area of work. The meeting identified key priority topics on which regional cooperation and technical assistance activities could focus in the coming years.
