Staff members who are considering working for peacekeeping missions might be interested in the distance learning opportunities offered by the Peace Operations Training Institute (formerly called UNITAR POCI). Training courses are self-paced and on a correspondence basis, and are offered on a number of subjects
* Please note that the course An introduction to the UN is available free of charge for all UN Secretariat staff members through the following link: http://www.unssc.org/welcometotheun/
Staff members who can demonstrate that they are actively seeking employment with a peacekeeping mission may request financial assistance, for the course fee only, from HRMS/ODSU. Applications may be put forward by e-mail to raabe@un.org. Allocation of financial assistance will depend on the amount of applications received as well as the amount of funds available.
Please note that financial assistance can only be granted if the course was completed successfully (based on the certificate of completion issued by the Peace Operations Training Institute after the end-of-course examination). No financial assistance is available for the COTIPSO Certificate fee (Certificate of Training in United Nations Peace Support Operations).
