Conflict Resolution

    Target audience: Staff members who have completed the Collaborative Negotiation Skills programme

    Objectives:
    At the conclusion of the training, participants will be able to:

    • Facilitate a process of mediation between two conflicting parties from start to finish
    • Help conflicting parties to achieve a resolution to their immediate problems as well as facilitate opportunities for deeper psychological and relational transformation

    Topics to be covered:

• Problem-solving and transformational models of mediation
• Creating a collaborative mediation environment and developing an opening statement
• Modeling active listening and de-escalation of emotions
• Facilitating dialogue and perspective between two conflicting parties
• Making smooth transitions between mediation phases
• Fostering conditions of interpersonal reconciliation, healing, growth and change
• Managing issues of trust, neutrality, gender, power and authority as a third party facilitator Developing and reality-testing agreements
