    • Getting help and updates
    • Command syntax
    • Running STATA in a batch mode (i.e. do-file) and logging STATA • • Getting data into STATA
    • Reading ASCII data and importing data from other programs
    • Accessing World Bank data
    • Variable types and names
    • Combining data sets
    • Reshaping data
    • Generating/replacing/labeling/deleting variables
    • Renaming/reordering/sorting variables
    • Creating categorical variables

    Introduction to data analysis using STATA




    • Descriptive analysis of data
    • Getting summary statistics
    • Tabulations
    • Regression analysis (OLS)
    • Some post-estimation tests
    • Graphs

    Practice session:




    • Participants will be assigned a project to be completed in small groups or individually with the objective of solidifying understanding of the topics covered in the previous two sessions.  If time allows, the instructor will present a brief introduction to programming commands (e.g. forvalues, foreach, while).
