|Development for staff in the General Service
and related categories begins with the General Service Development Series, which comprises
five workshops. The first, GSD I, is the foundation workshop, which is then followed by
a series of additional workshops (GSD II, GSD III, and GSD IV) that build and support the
development of critical skills.
It is recommended that three to six months after completing GSD I, participants take the remaining workshops (GSD II, GSD III, and GSD IV) in any sequence that provides them flexibility for professional development. When possible, GSD II should follow GSD I. It is also recommended that GSD III and GSD IV be taken together as they are always offered on two consecutive days, and their content is strongly related. Application workshops can be taken when offered, in any sequence, to practice and deal with real cases.
