The United Nations Secretariat offers a comprehensive global language training programme in all six official languages; i.e. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, and Spanish, which is administered locally at major duty stations.

For Bangkok, UNESCAP offers a substantial Language Training Programme accordingly, especially but not exclusively for staff working in the UN Building.

Upon the completion of all levels of the programme in a given language, staff members are highly encouraged to take the Language Proficiency Examination, a UN specific test of proficiency in the respective official language.

In addition, Thai language classes are offered outside the official language programme, predominantly to new staff members.
