The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for
Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) was organized the Expert Group Meeting
with objectives to share regional experiences and lessons among member
countries and other relevant organizations in the areas of financing development,
maintenance and upgrading of highway infrastructure including public private
partnerships and improving road safety. The Expert Group Meeting was
also discuss a proposed draft declaration on improving road safety in
the Asia Pacific region. The road safety declaration
was also adopted at the Ministerial Conference on Transport held
in November 2006.
