| With the support of the Federation of Freight Forwarders’ Associations in India (FFFAI), the Transport Division (TD) at UNESCAP organized the above-mentioned meetings for leading representatives from the freight forwarding, multimodal transport and logistics industry in the ESCAP region. These self-funded meetings were scheduled to coincide with the FIATA 2nd RAP Field Meeting held on 8th July 2008, at same venue in New Delhi, India. |

These events reflect the growing importance attached by member countries to the development of value-added logistics services, the evolving role of the freight forwarding industry and the importance of networking opportunities. The development of efficient logistics services can be encouraged by sharing good experiences at a regional level. Building on the successful deliberations at the 2007 meetings in Bangkok, participants from thirteen member countries who gathered at New Delhi, discussed a range of issues including: |

These meetings served as a platform for National Associations and their members to engage in meaningful discussion, exchange of experiences, and provided them with a unique opportunity to network, and build new partnerships.

Building upon the deliberations in New Delhi, in 2009, the same meetings will be held in Bangkok, Thailand. Preliminary information regarding proposed meeting dates and agenda items will be shared in Q1 2009.
