This was an outreach seminar for prospective
Special Data Dissemination Standard (SDDS) subscribers
in Asia and the Pacific region. The SDDS was
established in 1996 to guide countries that
had or sought access to international financial
markets in disseminating economic and financial
statistics to the public. Since that time, it
has developed into a key element of the IMF’s
overall effort to promote greater transparency
in the international financial system. At present,
there are 60 subscribing countries. The seminar
covered, among other topics, the origin and
evolution of the SDDS as well as day-to-day
operations, including staff monitoring of observance. |
