Joint Session of Executive Heads of Subregional Organizations and the
Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations/Executive Secrtary of ESCAP
with Pacific Island Leaders

Noumea, New Caledonia, 12 March 2008 (afternoon)

In the afternoon session, there will be a Joint Session of Executive Heads of Subregional Organizations and ESCAP with Pacific Island Leaders. The President of the Government of New Caledonia, H.E. Mr. Harold Martin will deliver a keynote statement during the afternoon session. This Joint session will be devoted to discussing areas of collaboration to promote regional cooperation, including addressing vulnerability issues such as food security, climate change and energy security, as well as the ESCAP study on Enhancing Pacific Connectivity. The Joint session in the afternoon will be attended by all the participants including the Pacific Island Leaders, the Executive Heads of Subregional Organizations and ESCAP.
