The Working Group will be briefed on: (1) the deliberations of the Committee for Development Policy held in New York during 19-23 March 2007; (2) the progress in the implementation of the project on "Enhancing Pacific Connectivity"; (3) the preparation of the eighth session of the Special Body on Least
Developed and Landlocked Developing Countries, 15-16 May
2007, Almaty; and (4) the progress in the implementation of the Almaty Programme of Action. The Working Group will also consider two resolutions on energy and migration for submission to the 63rd Session of the Commission.

In preparation for the Mid-term Review of the Implementation
of the Programme of Action for the Least Developed Countries
for the Decade 2001-2010 which will take place in fourth quarter
of 2006 the Working Group met to discuss (1) Mid-term Review
of the Implementation of the Programme of Action for the Least
Developed Countries for the Decade 2001-2010; (2) outcome
of the Workshop on Identifying Emerging Social Issues in Least
Developed Countries of Asia and the Pacific held in Bangkok
on 31 October 2005; and (3) Technical cooperation activities.

Working Group considered (1) resource mobilization
and enabling environment for poverty eradication in the context
of the implementation of the Programme of Action for the Least
Developed Countries for the Decade 2001-2010, (2) commitment
to good governance, development and poverty reduction, and
(3) measures for ensuring smooth transition of least developed
countries from their current status.
