Questionnaire for Governments on Implementation of
the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action adopted at
the Fourth World Conference on Women (Beijing, 1995) and
the outcomes of the twenty-third special session of
the General Assembly (2000)

In preparation for the 15th anniversary of the adoption of the Beijing Platform for Action in 2010, the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) is requesting feedback from member and associate member Governments on the below questionnaire on Implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, adopted at the Fourth World Conference on Women (Beijing, 1995), and the outcomes of the twenty-third special session of the General Assembly (2000).

In collaboration with the Division for the Advancement of Women of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, the United Nations regional commissions will conduct a review and appraisal of progress in implementation over the five-year period from 2004 to 2009.  The process will identify achievements, gaps and challenges as well as provide an indication of areas where actions and initiatives are most urgent to further implementation. The regional commissions will utilize the responses of Member States to the questionnaire in preparing the review and appraisal of progress as part of a variety of sources of information and statistics. Additional details regarding the process are provided in the introductory sections of the questionnaire form.
