2. Malaysia Environment Week

The national-level Malaysia Environment Week was launched in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah by the Chief Minister of Sabah on 21 October 1995. "Our environment, a heritage, together we conserve" was chosen as the theme, which was in line with the theme for World Environment Day 1995, i.e., "We the peoples, united for the global environment". Representatives of diplomatic missions of the Commonwealth and ASEAN countries such as Brunei Darussalam, Nigeria, the Philippines and South Africa attended the launch ceremony.

Malaysia Environment Week was also celebrated at the State level. The Department of Environment State offices conducted various activities and programmes with the assistance and support of the State government and other agencies.
