3. Registration of pesticides

All pesticides must be registered with the Pesticides Board before they can be imported or manufactured for sale in the country. Applications for approval must be submitted to the Secretary of the Pesticides Board of the Department of Agriculture. The main terms and conditions for application are that:
  • Only local companies registered with the Registrar of Companies may apply for pesticide registration;
  • Applications must use the designated application form, and be accompanied by a covering letter, an endorsement letter from the supplier of the pesticides and a letter of authorization for the use of data;
  • An application must be accompanied by complete data on formulation, toxicology, residue and efficiency of the product, plus other relevant information;
  • A sample of the product and the draft label must be submitted during application;
  • A registration fee of M$ 400 will be charged for each licence.
