[ B | B-1 | B-2 | B-3 | B-4 ]
The provision of incentives for the manufacturing, agriculture and tourism sectors are governed by the Promotion of Investments Act, 1986, and the Income Tax Act, 1967. Therefore incentives that are available to all other industries are also generally available for agricultural activities and agro-based industries. The Act comes under the purview of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry and the Malaysian Industrial Development Authority (MIDA); the Federal Treasury and the Inland Revenue Department are responsible for the Income Tax Act, 1967.
The above incentives are designed to grant relief from income tax. In addition, in assisting those agencies in the implementation of the above incentives, the Ministry of Agriculture assumes a key role in reviewing the effectiveness of the incentives for agricultural activities.
