E. Development of a comprehensive environmental database
Environmental data are an essential prerequisite to environmental planning and management. Environmental planners and decision makers should have access to an extensive, well-researched environmental data which can be regularly updated at suitable intervals. The Planning, Environment and Development Department established its BOS for the collection and dissemination of data, but further improvements are required. There is an urgent need to generate/collect and incorporate more data on the environment as well as natural resources use and production. BOS staff also need more equipment and training in specific related fields, such as GIS.
