3. Public involvement in urban planning
Public interest in urban planning issues is relatively low. The current public involvement is limited to notifying property owners or people directly involved at a particular time in the process. However, public involvement needs to be much more than that. Crosby suggests that to achieve wider public support in Fiji for planning and development control, better public relations are required on urban planning issues and greater education on urban planning goals and policies.
