3.Urbanization expansion in the region

The progress of urban expansion in the region is most clearly indicated by the growth of the city proper. In the early post-liberation period, recovery and reconstruction of the city were the major undertakings. By 1956, a built-up area of 1l6.89 km2 had been completed. Then the process entered the second stage of rapid expansion in region, and the built-up area was expanded to 157.78 km2 in 1976.
