3. Sustainable development indicators

The Philippines is also in the process of formulating Sustainable Development Indicators (SDIs). At the macro level, SDIs are summary indicators meant primarily to highlight trends, help clarify issues, warn of potential environmental problems and monitor progress towards the objectives of sustainable development in the Philippines. The macro indicators will primarily be used in monitoring commitments made under the Philippine Agenda 21. At the micro level, community-based indicators are currently being developed for monitoring and evaluating projects implemented at the community level. It has been proposed that the results of the studies be presented to PCSD and its subcommittees.
