The fifty-eighth session of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific was held 16-22 May 2002 at the United Nations Conference Centre in Bangkok, Thailand.

The theme topic of the fifty-eighth session is "Sustainable social development in a period of rapid globalization: challenges, opportunities, and policy options".
